VISION

The LAAWW vision is to ensure that community members, regardless of language, ability, or background, have equal access to emergency alerts and warnings. 

MISSION 

The LAAWW Mission is to foster collaboration among public communicators charged with alert and warning initiatives. We do this by identifying and recommending the best practices and policies supporting alert and warning systems and eliminating barriers hindering the distribution of critical emergency information to everyone. We strive to enhance our collective abilities to help communities prepare and respond to emergency events by enhancing the development and distribution of inclusive, timely, and actionable warning and alerts.

OBJECTIVES

• Make recommendations to improve alert and warning practices, policies, and processes. 

• Promote the innovation of emergency communication, breaking down accessibility barriers and fostering a global community that is better prepared, more resilient, and inclusive. 

• Identify guidelines for alert and warning practices end-to-end.

• Educate alert and warning stakeholders on language and accessibility inclusion. 

• Advocate with stakeholders, law and policy makers, and industry experts. 

• Provide a forum to address multilingual and accessible alerting and warning initiatives.
