Q. What inspired you to run for office?

A. The killing of George Floyd made me very aware of what could happen if certain communities were not involved in their cities' decision-making processes. As Northfield grows and changes, it’s important our city council actually represents, supports, and protects the people in our city. I wanted to step up to bring a young and needed Latino voice to the Council.

Q. What is something that you would like to accomplish while in office?

A. really want to work towards more affordable and equitable housing for all. Many people can't afford to live here and we need to plan for the future with dignity.

Q. State and Local government often go unnoticed how would help keep the public informed?

A. I think the city council needs to properly communicate the message it wants to city staff, including how they want to get that information out and to who. We also should seriously have bilingual city staff who can speak to Spanish-speaking residents and produce bilingual documents. A Google translate button is not effective.

Q. What does being a leader mean to you?

A. Stepping up when you're called upon; listening and respecting those you represent and acting on their interests; and being creative and confident in finding new solutions.
