Background:

My family lives across the world and we have few opportunities to all be together. When we are, we always forget to set up the perfect conditions for a good family photo. In this case, the family was together visiting Petra in 2018. I think many people are in the situation where a photo is taken in a place they'll never visit again and wish to have a better looking version.

Design:

I wanted both the faces of family members and the beauty of the ancient cliff carving to stand out.

Photoshop Skills Used:

• Smart Objects

• Select and Mask to isolate the family and the darker foreground

• Camera Raw Filter on each portion

• Sharpen along with blending modes

• Hue and Saturation Adjustment Layer to remove red lens fringing

• Hue and Saturation Adjutment Layer to whiten teeth

• Photo filter layer

• Curves Adjustment Layer
