Hello! I am a coach and teacher with 25+ years of experience working with students K-university. My journey began teaching languages in a variety of school environments--including in Texas, France, Salt Lake City, Maryland and at Cornell University. As I shifted to focus on Special Education, I also trained as a coach through the Anti-Boring Learning Lab.
As a high school teacher, university instructor, and tutor, I have worked with a variety of learners to build confidence in their academic skills—including planning, organization, note-taking, and study strategies. I've also helped students explore tools to boost attention, task initiation, and working memory as an executive function coach for a private company with students across the country. As a district mentor for new teachers and as department chair, I have worked to guide colleagues toward greater awareness of habits and mindsets in order to better support our students. In each of these roles, I've learned the necessity of self-regulation practices for growing other skills.
As a parent, I understand the challenges (and joys) of living with a neurodiverse child! I am continuously building my toolbox for supporting students with ADHD and related diagnoses. In particular, I am attuned to the unique needs of “twice exceptional” learners and I am a seeker of best practices for their success.
Through these experiences, I've learned the value of having a nurturing coach for support when trying out different strategies and developing new routines. I am guided by the understanding that students can progress when met with deep empathy and supported in the specific skills they need to meet their goals.
When not coaching, I love to swim, practice my Japanese, and have joke contests with my middle schooler!
I look forward to working with you!
