Kugama people and their language
Kugama people, wa̰m or wa̰a̰, live in a number of villages in Mayo-Belwa, Fufore, and Jada Local Government Areas (LGA) of Adamawa State, Nigeria. Many Kugama live in the town of Mayo-Belwa, the administrative center of Mayo-Belwa LGA, and in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.
Kugama people call their language ɲaa wa̰m or ɲaa wa̰a̰ "Wam language". The Kugama community is currently involved into two projects that aim to describe and maintain the Kugama language.
