The Kugama community is getting ready for circumcision ceremonies that will take place in December 2024 - January 2025. Previous circumcision ceremonies were organized in December 2021 - January 2022.
We are thrilled to announce that the Bible Translation Team has successfully completed the oral translation of three books of the Bible — Luke, John, and Matthew — into Kugama! This accomplishment was made possible by the dedication and hard work of everyone involved into this work. A heartfelt congratulations goes out to the entire team for this incredible achievement and to our community for their enthusiastic participation and valuable discussions throughout the process.
The 2nd Adamawa Conference took place on September 13-15, 2023 in Paris, France. It aims to bring together studies on the languages traditionally referred to as Adamawa. More information is provided here: https://adamawa2023.sciencesconf.org
The Wekuh festival 2023 took place on March 3 - 4 2023 in the town of Mayo-Belwa. Three communities Kugama, Gengle and Satte met together to celebrate their cultures.
The Kugama day anniversary took place on February 13 - 14 2023 at the Kugama Kuri Prmary School. The celebration was accompanied by dancing, singing and playing musical instruments.
