　わたしたちは京大総長選学生情報局です。皆さんは2020年10月に京都大学の総長が替わることを知っていますか。その新総長は京都大学総長選考（通称：京大総長選）によって決まります。わたしたちはこの総長選の情報を皆さんに発信したいという思いで発足した京都大学の学生からなる団体です。

 We are the Student Information Office for the President's Selection of Kyoto University. Did you know that Kyoto University will have a new president in October 2020? The new president will be chosen through the Kyoto University President's Selection Meeting. We are a group of Kyoto University students, who want to provide you with information about the president election.

　京都大学では、これまで「自由の学風」の理念のもと、教員・職員・学生の要求を受け、対話によって合意形成を行い、それを基本にした大学運営が長い間続いてきました。ですがこの状況は近年著しく変化を見せています。総長と8名の理事からなる理事会の決定権が強まり、トップダウン式の運営へと変貌しつつあります。

 For a long time, Kyoto University has been run based on the spirit of "academic freedom", in which the demands of faculty, staff, and students are met and consensus is formed through dialogue. 

 However, this situation has changed significantly in recent years.The decision-making power of the Board of Directors, which consists of the President and 8 members, has strengthened, and there has been a change of management to a top-down approach. 

　京大総長選で選ばれた新総長のもとで京都大学は新体制に移行します。それにより教員・職員・学生の活動は少なからず影響を受けることになるでしょう。しかし最終的な決定は12人のメンバーで構成される総長選考会議によってなされます。そのため肝心の決定プロセスには、ほとんどの大学構成員が直接関わることができません。

 Kyoto University will shift to a new system under a new president elected by this President's Selection.It will have no small influence on the activities of faculty, staff, and students.

 Nevertheless, the final decision will be made by the President's Selection Meeting consists of 12 members.As a result, most constituents of the University will not be directly involved in the decision-making process.

　そこでわたしたちは、少しでも多くの学内の声をこの総長選考会議に届けようと考えています。そのために、2014年から今に至るまで現体制の京都大学で起こったこと、問題点、評価点をできるかぎり正確に伝えます。

 Therefore, we would like to bring as many voices from the campus to the President's Selection Meeting as possible. In order to do so, we will try to clarify as accurately as possible what has happened in the current system of Kyoto University since 2014, both the problems and achievements.

　総長候補者が確定した後は、学内の諸団体から提出された各候補者への質問状の回答等に基づき、それぞれの考えを当サイトに集約します。

 After the candidates for the president are confirmed, we will aggregate their thoughts on this site based on the responses to the questionnaires submitted by various groups on campus.

　そしてそれらを踏まえた教員・職員・学生の声をweb投票によって可視化し総長選考会議に提出します。

 Then we visualize the opinions of the faculty, staff, and students by web voting and submit them to the President's Selection Meeting.

　今回の京大総長選はこれからの京都大学の6年間、そしてさらに先の京都大学の行く末を決める大きな転機となります。皆さんのご注目とご協力をぜひよろしくお願いします。

This election of the president will be a major turning point in determining the future of Kyoto University for the next 6 years, and the future ahead. We would appreciate your attention and cooperation.
