1) Workshops about migrations

On Tuesday, February 5th, START students were involved in 4 workshopsabout the war in Syria, the Refugee crisis and international human rights in partnership with the French Red Cross Organization.

These workshops were designed to explained the cause of the wars in Syria and in the Middle East and why a huge part of the Syrian population has to flee from their home country.

START students watching a short video about the situation of a Syrian family.

Then it is time to locate their home town on the map.

Finally the group has to find the best solution for the Syrian family: stay in Syria or leave the country. They decide to run away from war and find the safest way out of Syria.

2) How to make the Refugee Crisis issue more real to students?

Students went on a Virtual tour of a Refugee Camp in Syria. The program was developed by the Red Cross organization!

They took part in a 8 minute VR visit of acamp and learnt so much information about life in refugee camps and listened to several life stories.

3) The Red Cross

In the afternoon the 65 START students participated in the "Red Cross", a serious game about international migrations. They took part in 6 different activities developed to make them experience what people living in countries at war suffer from every day.

The 5 groups were made of students from the 4 schools and countries involved.

5 students have to overcome all sorts of obstacles before getting to a safe place! Students realized how hard and dangerous it is to flee a country at war.
