I recognize that students enter the classroom with different backgrounds and relationships with mathematics, and I therefore intentionally create environments and design activities in which they have multiple ways to engage with mathematical ideas, contribute their thinking, and develop confidence as mathematical learners. Using active learning techniques, rich tasks, historical sources, formative assessments, and metacognitive reflection, I design activities in which students investigate mathematics as a meaningful human activity and develop their own mathematical identity. Above all, I treat my students with dignity and respect.

I am a member of the TRIUMPHS Society (TRansforming Instruction: Understanding Mathematics via Primary Historical Sources) and use primary historical sources in my classroom.
