The Council was reminded by Outside Guard Luis Cruz that the 2026 MS Walk will be held on April 26. A proposal was considered and approved to make a donation to the MS Walk on behalf of our Brother Knight and his "Team Cruzin' for a Cure."
A number of parishioners from St. Brendan's have begun to organize themselves into a Fundraising Committee, for the general financial benefit of the Parish, and the particular goal of raising money for the anticipated HVAC replacement project. They are currently in the preliminary stages of organizing what they hope will become a series of Bingo Nights. Any Knights interested in contributing to the work of the Fundraising Committee should contact the Financial Secretary for further information.
A preliminary proposal was introduced to consider the possibility of the Council sponsoring a Lenten/Easter collection of items which would be of benefit for Rachel's Joy Maternity Home, which has long been a beneficiary of St. Brendan's Parish during the Christmas Season. Knights are encouraged to await further updates from the Grand Knight on this proposed initiative.

Kelly, calling for Knights to be "Heralds of Hope", with a special focus on: Spiritual Formation - Prayer Life, reception of the Sacraments, personal development in the faith; Service to Others - in a special way, service to the most vulnerable among us; Community Engagement - with the community at large, with our parish, and with each other; and Patriotism. St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 notes that St. Edmund's Elementary School will be hosting a "Knight at the Races" fundraiser in support of their school on Friday, January 30. Knights may remember that there was an attempt at this fundraiser during the previous school year, spearheaded by the parents of children enrolled in the school. As St. Edmund's is paired with St. Brendan's, Knights are encouraged to attend and assist, as this could be an opportunity for recruitment, to say nothing of the opportunity to support the valuable work of Catholic education. The Council is pleased to note that there were some entries in the "Keep Christ in Christmas" Art Contest which the Council offered as an opportunity for the St. Brendan's Parish Faith Formation program. A proposal was considered and approved to hold a Valentine's Day Movie fundraiser on Sunday, February 8. We will be showing the 1955 animated film, "Lady and the Tramp", following the conclusion of the 10am Mass. Knights are encouraged to support this effort.
Preliminarily, the Council is looking to do another "Pasta Night" fundraiser, sometime in the Spring.

St. Bernard Council No. 14269 is hosting a Christmas Party on Wednesday, December 17, at 6:30pm. Knights from other Councils and their families are most welcome. In keeping with the invitation to Knights' families, St. Bernard Council is pleased to note that they will have a special guest from the North Pole 🎅🏻 ... The admission to the Party is one unwrapped toy per guest. We recommend a minimum value of $10-15 per toy. St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 is pleased to note that we sold out of Christmas Wreaths. The "Keep Christ in Christmas" magnets were not quite as popular with our retail customers, but we were able to wholesale the excess supply to neighboring councils. We thank those Knights who contributed to our sales efforts and, of course, to our loyal customers for their purchases.
Related to our Christmas sales, a motion was considered and passed to donate a portion of the profit to St. Brendan's Parish.
The Council is once again pleased to note that it will be sponsoring the "Keep Christ in Christmas" Art Contest for the St. Brendan's Parish Faith Formation program. The contest winners will be selected on Epiphany. Related to this effort, a motion was considered and passed to obtain gift cards as prizes for the winners.

The Council is pleased to note that it will be sponsoring the "Keep Christ in Christmas" Art Contest at St. Brendan's Parish. We encourage all young artists in the Faith Formation program to participate.
Council No. 294 is pleased to announce that we will once again be selling Christmas Wreaths, beginning at the Parish Christmas Fair on December 6 & 7, and continuing for as long as supplies last. The Council notes the importance of this, our main fundraiser, and encourages all Knights to participate, either as constructors or sellers of wreaths (and, of course, as buyers... 😉). All Knights are asked to convey their availability for "wreath duty" (preliminary construction to begin on December 5, and the aforementioned activities on December 6 & 7) to the Financial Secretary.
In conjunction with the wreaths, the Council will also be selling "Keep Christ in Christmas" car magnets. To this end, a motion regarding the wholesale purchase of a supply of said magnets was considered and approved.
Anticipating the continuation of the Council's wreath sale beyond the initial December 6 & 7 weekend, a motion was considered and passed to promote and sell tickets for a Council-based 50/50 raffle, beginning on the weekend of December 13 & 14 (so as to not interfere with the various activities of the Parish Christmas Fair), with the drawing to be held in the New Year.

Knights are reminded of the importance of recruitment, both by formal action and by general example. Knights should be the sort of parishioners that other parishioners can look to emulate. This is ultimately a collective effort, and all members of the Council are called upon to live out the best example of Catholic manhood as possible.
Knights are encouraged to consider the Council's fundraising efforts: What can be done to strengthen existent fundraisers? What new fundraising opportunities could be pursued?

In response to the flooding in Texas, District 36 has been in contact with its constituent councils, of which Council No. 294 is one, seeking donations to aid those in need. The Council approved a motion to donate $200 for this effort.
