As per the June Meeting...

Knights are reminded that the Brooklyn Independence Day Parade will be held on Sunday July 3. District 36 District Deputy Lou Stuto will be a special honoree at a related ceremony at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. All Knights are invited to attend. St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 congratulates all of its newly elected officers for the 2022-2023 Columbian Year. Visit the Council Officers page to see this upcoming year's officer slate.
Knights are reminded that June 19 is the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. All Knights are encouraged to participate in the Eucharistic procession following the 10:30am Mass. Please contact the Grand Knight for further information.
As the 2021-2022 Columbian Year comes to an end, Knights are reminded that Membership dues will be collected with the onset of the NEW 2022-2023 Columbian Year. All Knights are asked to be prepared accordingly for the July Meeting. Payments and/or questions should be directed to the Financial Secretary or the Grand Knight.

As per the May Meeting...

District 36 is pleased to report an enjoyable and successful evening at the Night at the Races fundraiser on April 23.
The Kings County Conference will be holding a Town Hall for all Knights on Wednesday May 18 at Our Lady of Grace. Please contact Grand Knight SK Alex DeMarchena or Financial Secretary Patrick Turturro for further information.

The nominating process for Officers for the 2022-2023 Columbian year has begun. Elections will be held at the June meeting. Additional nominations will be possible earlier that evening. We remind all Knights that St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 considered and passed a motion to grant a waiver on the two-consecutive-year term limits of Council Officers. Thus, any officer who is completing their second year of service in a particular position this current 2021-2022 Columbian year will be permitted to seek a third consecutive term in the 2022-2023 Columbian year, should they be so inclined. Knights are encouraged to consider what role they can play in the continued growth and development of the Council, be it in their current role or in another.

As per the April Meeting...

Knights are reminded of the importance of Holy Week. All Knights are encouraged to attend the liturgies of the Easter Triduum. Specifically relating to Holy Thursday, Knights are asked to make a special effort to sit together, in order to facilitate their participation in the Procession to the Repository Chapel - jacket and tie, with K of C lapel pins, if possible.
District 36 remains cautiously optimistic that the Night at the Races fundraiser, scheduled for April 23, will go on, providing a much-needed opportunity for social interaction amongst the Knights of the Councils of District 36, and their friends. Looking ahead, St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 reminds Knights that officer elections will be held in June. It remains our hope to have all candidates declared by the May meeting. Discussions were held regarding a prospective waiver on the limit of two consecutive terms for officers continue. A formal vote on the matter was delayed until the May meeting, in order to permit further reflection on the matter. Regardless of the term-limit question, Knights are encouraged to consider what role they can play in the continued growth and development of the Council, be it in their current role or in another.

A Special Announcement...

The second Wednesday of April being within Holy Week, the monthly meeting has been rescheduled to Wednesday, April 6.
All Knights are encouraged to attend, as practicable.

As per the March Meeting...

Amended from the February Meeting, St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 will limit its Recruitment Drive on March 12 to the 7pm Mass. Recruitment efforts at the other Masses will be conducted at another date. The council remains hopeful that a Degree Exemplification will be conducted on Sunday, March 20, following the 11am Mass.
District 36 remains cautiously optimistic that the Night at the Races fundraiser, scheduled for April 23, will go on, providing a much-needed opportunity for social interaction amongst the Knights of the Councils of District 36, and their friends. St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 is pleased to acknowledge the successful restart of the Food Pantry. We thank everyone who came out and assisted with the effort. We are particularly grateful to Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens for their contribution of nonperishable foods. Our next Food Pantry will be on Saturday, March 5.
As discussed at the January Meeting, Knights are reminded that our next Knights Mass will be on Sunday, February 13, to be followed by an in-Council brunch.
Also as discussed at the January Meeting, and then further discussed at the February Meeting, St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 will be hosting a Recruitment Drive at the Masses on March 12 - 13. A Luncheon for prospective members will be held after the 11am Mass on Sunday, March 13. This will be complimented by a Degree Exemplification on Sunday, March 20, following the 11am Mass.
The Council is pleased to announce a tentative date for our next Blood Drive, on Sunday, March 27. Exact details to be firmed up in the coming weeks; contact Grand Knight SK Alex DeMarchena or SK Louis Carrera PGK for further information.
Council No. 294 is exploring the prospect of selling candy for Easter or Mothers Day, as a much-needed fundraiser. Knights interested in assisting with the research and organization of this effort are encouraged to contact the Grand Knight as soon as possible.
The New York State Council is offering a Retreat for Knights on April 1-3. Contact the Grand Knight for further information.

St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 reminds Knights of the importance of our monthly Rosary for Life and Vocations, on the First Monday of every month. All Knights are encouraged to attend and participate in the monthly Rosary.

A Special Announcement...

Due to anticipated adverse weather conditions, the Food Pantry, scheduled for Saturday January 29, has been CANCELLED.
A new date for the Food Pantry has yet to be determined. Knights will be informed as further information develops.

As per the January Meeting...

The January Meeting transitioned to online, in response to an uptick in COVID cases among members of the parish.
District 36 (St. Finbar Council No. 15278, Samuel Cardinal Stritch Council No. 4661, Msgr. Salvatore Cafiero Council No. 7236, Joseph B. Cavallaro Council No. 4884, Most Precious Blood Council No. 6134, and St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294) is looking to provide a donation of non-perishable food items to the victims of the recent apartment building fire in the Bronx. On a related note, St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 is pleased to announce the imminent return of the St. Brendan's Food Pantry, sponsored by the Council in conjunction with the St. Brendan's Youth Ministry program. We anticipate resuming Food Pantry activities on Saturday, January 29. Please contact the Grand Knight for further information.
At the December 2021 meeting, it had been decided to host an in-Council social in January, to be followed by a recruitment social for the men of the parish in February. Given the circumstances which developed in January, it was proposed and agreed to that the planned socials should be delayed to the following months. To this end, the in-Council social, for current members of St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294, is rescheduled for February 13; the recruitment social, available to all the men of St. Brendan's Parish, is tentatively rescheduled for sometime in March.

As per the December meeting...

St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 reminds all Knights that we will be hosting a Blood Drive on Sunday, December 19, in the Parish Hall. Please contact Grand Knight SK Alex DeMarchena for further details.
Knights are encouraged to consider this present Advent season as an opportunity to consider the presence of Christ in our lives, as we prepare for the great feast of Christmas.

St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 looks forward to a strong commitment to recruitment and fundraising in 2022. To this end, the Council is pleased to announce that it will be organizing a social gathering for all men of the parish, with the hopes for stimulating recruitment efforts, in February 2022.
St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 reminds its member that the Pro Vita Mass of the Diocese of Brooklyn will be celebrated at St. James Cathedral-Basilica on January 23. It is our hope to be able to send a contingent to this Mass. Please contact the Grand Knight for further information.

St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a Blood Drive on Sunday, December 19, in the Parish Hall. Please contact Grand Knight SK Alex DeMarchena for further details.
Knights are reminded that a great commitment of manpower will be necessary for the successful operation of the Council's annual Christmas Wreath Sale. Knights are asked to communicate with the Grand Knight or Chancellor Joe Lanni as soon as possible, in order to determine how they can contribute to this effort.
St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 is pleased to publicize the following noteworthy activities in the area:
- - The Kings County Conference will be sponsoring a Designer Pocketbook Raffle on December 1.
  - The Kings County Conference will host its annual Polar Plunge on December 5.
  - The Long Island Council will commemorate its 125th Anniversary on December 5.
  - The New York State Council will be participating in fundraisers, organized in conjunction with both the New York Islanders and the New York Rangers.
  - District 36 (St. Finbar Council No. 15278, Samuel Cardinal Stritch Council No. 4661, Msgr. Salvatore Cafiero Council No. 7236, Joseph B. As per the October meeting...

St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 congratulates its Officers on their Installation, and thanks everyone involved in the Installation Ceremony, including a special word of thanks to our District Deputy, Lou Stuto, for his participation.
St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 is pleased to announce its participation in the Parish Children's Halloween Party on October 29. Please contact Grand Knight SK Alex DeMarchena or Chancellor Joe Lanni for further details.

The State Council invites everyone to join them at MetLife Stadium (East Rutherford, NJ) as the Jets play the Buffalo Bills.
