As per the May meeting...
- Delegates are advised that the Long Island Chapter will be returning to in-person meetings as of the May meeting. Please contact Grand Knight SK Alex DeMarchena for further information.
- The Food Pantry will be open once again, on Saturday, May 15, from 12 noon to 3pm. All Knights are encourage to assist, if able. Assistance will also be needed on Friday, May 14, for preparing the Food Pantry operation. Please contact the Grand Knight for further information. As always, we thank CCBQ and COPO for the logistical assistance which they provide to our operation.
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 remains committed to the return of the Blood Drive to St. Brendan's, and is exploring possible dates in June to facilitate this effort.
- Knights are reminded once again that the annual dues are indeed due. Payments and/or questions should be directed ASAP to Financial Secretary Patrick Turturro.
- The nominating process for Officers for the 2021-2022 Columbian year has begun. Elections will be held at the June meeting. Additional nominations will be possible earlier that evening. We remind all Knights that, in light of the truncated nature of this past Columbian year, St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 considered and passed a motion to grant a waiver on the two-consecutive-year term limits of Council Officers. Thus, any officer who is completing their second year of service in a particular position this current 2020-2021 Columbian year will be permitted to seek a third consecutive term in the 2021-2022 Columbian year, should they be so inclined. Knights are encouraged to consider what role they can play in the continued growth and development of the Council.

As per the April meeting...
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 offers it hearty congratulations to the newly elected officers of the Kings County Conference.
- The Kings County Conference is sponsoring a raffle in support of the Archdiocese for the Military Services. Contact Grand Knight SK Alex DeMarchena for further information.
- Delegates are advised that the New York State Council Convention will be held virtually on April 23 & 24. Contact the Grand Knight or Financial Secretary Patrick Turturro for further details.
- The New York State Conference is sponsoring a pilgrimage to the shrine of Our Lady of the Island, in Manorville NY, on May 16. Please contact the Grand Knight for further information.
- The New York State Conference will be honored with the Spirit Award by the New York Mets at the May 28 game against the Atlanta Braves. Tickets for Knights are $50, with a portion of the proceeds to support the Brooklyn Diocese CYO. Please contact the Grand Knight for further information.
- After a brief interruption, the Food Pantry will return on Saturday, April 24, from 12 noon to 3pm. All Knights are encouraged to assist, if able. Assistance will also be needed on Friday, April 23, for preparing the Food Pantry operation, starting at around 11:30am. Once again, we thank CCBQ and COPO for the logistical assistance which they provide to our operation.
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council will be assisting with food services at the Confirmation Retreat on May 1. Please contact the Grand Knight for further information.
- May 15 is the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima. This year, it is also the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord. An Outdoor Mass (weather permitting) will be offered that evening at 7:30pm. Knights are asked to assist with a special procession with the statue of Our Lady of Fatima preceding the Mass, at 7pm. Please contact the Grand Knight for further information.
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 is pleased to announce the (tentative) date of Sunday, May 30, for the return of the Blood Drive to St. Brendan's.

- In anticipation of Holy Thursday, Knights from St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 are asked to make themselves available to serve as an Honor Guard at the Repository Tabernacle, from the conclusion of the Mass of the Lord's Supper to 11:00pm. Knights may be rotated in shifts as needed. Please contact Grand Knight SK Alex DeMarchena for further information.
- Knights are reminded of the designation of this year as the "Year of St. Joseph". Knights are encouraged to take advantage of the resources available, including the opportunity for the consecration to St. Joseph, which will be held on May 1.
- Knights are reminded that Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament has returned to the Chapel, and has resumed normal hours, from 9:30am to 7:30pm. Knights are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.

- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 is pleased to announce that we will sponsor the Food Pantry TWICE this month, on Saturday, February 13 and Saturday, February 27. Our thanks to CCBQ and COPO for their generosity and assistance.

- As Lent approaches, we encourage all Knights to consider the invigorative quality of this liturgical season, which gives us an opportunity to prepare for the glorious joy of Easter, and to experience that joy more fully having prepared accordingly.

As per the January meeting...
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 launched the new year implementing the NEW meeting procedures developed by the Supreme Council.
- Knights are reminded of the designation of this year by Pope Francis as the "Year of St. Joseph", surely a most worthy model for all Catholic gentlemen.
- The December Food Pantry was quite successful, especially in light of some of the logistical difficulties which it faced. The January Food Pantry is scheduled for Saturday, January 30. All Knights who are able to are invited to assist with this effort.
- Knights are reminded of the importance of recruitment of new Knights for membership in the Council. It is our hope to arrange for some dates when not only would a speaker formally invite the men of the parish to consider membership, but also additional Knights would be available for more personal conversations with prospective members.

As per the December meeting...
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 regrets to announce the cancellation of the planned December Food Pantry, due to adverse weather and related supply difficulties.
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 once again notes with sadness the passing of our Brother Knight, Angelo Ippolito.
- All Knights are reminded of the Monthly Rosary for Life and Vocations, and of the importance of this effort. The Rosary is conducted on the First Monday of every month, at 7:30pm.
- As part of its effort to further contribute to the life of the parish, it was suggested that Knights consider serving as ushers at the weekend Masses.
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 is pleased to note its continued sponsorship of a Christmas Tree in the parish's annual Christmas Lights display.
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 is also pleased to report the great success of the November Blood Drive, reported to be our best attended thus far. Due to this, the New York Blood Center is considering further ways to expand its cooperation with the Parish and the Council.
- The Council is further pleased to report successful participation in the C & B Raffle effort, and its "Good Standing" with the Supreme Council and the State Council. All of these points are positive reflections on the hard work of our member Knights.
- As one calendar year comes to a close, and another prepares to emerge, Knights are reminded of the importance of further recruitment of new Knights.
- In compliance with guidance from Supreme Council, the officers of Council No. 294 are exploring the rescheduling of Officer Meetings to a day other than the second Wednesday of the month. Further information to be made available as it develops.

An Important Announcement...
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 regrets to announce the death of our Brother Knight, Angelo Ippolito.
- Angelo's wake will be on Wednesday evening, at Marine Park Funeral Home. The Council will make an official presentation of our sympathies to the family at the wake. All Knights who are able to are asked to attend - please contact Grand Knight SK Alex DeMarchena for further details.
- As this Wednesday would normally be the day for the monthly Meetings, the December Council and Council Officers' Meetings are postponed; a new date will be determined in the future.
- Angelo's funeral will be on Thursday, at 10:00am, at St. Brendan's. All Knights who are able to are asked to attend.
As per the November meeting...
- Due to a slight relaxation in the stringency of the localized quarantine referred to previously, a limited number of members of St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 were able to gather for the November meeting.
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 is pleased to announce that the Council-sponsored Parish Food Pantry will be inaugurated on Saturday, November 21. The initial plan is to operate the Food Pantry once a month. Council No. 294 is grateful for the assistance of Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens and Council of Peoples Organization in the development and operation of the Food Pantry. Knights are needed on Friday, November 20 to organize supplies, and Saturday, November 21 to assist with distribution. Please contact Grand Knight SK Alex DeMarchena for more information.
- It is the hope of the New York Blood Center to hold another Blood Drive in collaboration with Council No. 294 on Sunday, November 22. Due to social distancing protocols, the Blood Center van is unavailable, so the Drive will be held in the Parish Hall. The Blood Center is contacting past donors; new donors must register in advance. - Knights are once again reminded of the importance of the C & B Raffles to the financial health of both Council No. 294 and the State Council. Raffles should be turned in before the end of November. As per the October Officers' Consultations...
- As noted previously, the imposition of a new, localized quarantine by the State precluded the normal monthly Council Meetings. However, several of the Officers of St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 were able to exchange communications regarding a number of topics of interest.
- Conference Delegates are reminded that a meeting of the Kings County delegates is scheduled for Thursday October 29, at St. Finbar's. Contact Financial Secretary Patrick Turturro for more information.
- Knights are reminded of the availability of Insurance from the Knights of Columbus. We are pleased to note that an Agent has been formally assigned to assist interested members of Council No. 294, whom we hope to host at some point in the not-too-distant future. - Knights are once again reminded of the importance of the C & B Raffles to the financial health of both Council No. 294 and the State Council. Raffles should be turned in by November. - It was noted that today, October 13, was the 103rd Anniversary of the "Miracle of the Sun", an important event in connection with the Marian apparition at Fatima. Recognizing the importance of the Rosary (especially as expressed at Fatima), Knights are encouraged to commit themselves to the daily recitation of the Rosary, especially in this time of great distress in our world.

A Special Announcement...
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 regrets to announce the cancellation of the October Knights' Mass, due to the restrictions imposed by Governor Cuomo on varying neighborhoods, including Midwood, related to an increase in reported COVID-19 Coronavirus cases. Whilst by no means downplaying the seriousness of Coronavirus, Council No. 294 joins with Catholic leaders throughout Brooklyn and Queens in pointing out the great efforts undertaken by Catholic churches and schools to combat the virus, and further joins in their collective objections to the broad scope of Governor Cuomo's orders, which, in addressing certain other entities' deliberate refusal to make even the smallest of efforts, willfully ignores the hard work of our Catholic institutions. It is our hope to resume the monthly Knights' Mass in November.
- On a similar note, the State restrictions will preclude the holding of the monthly Council Meeting. It is our hope to make alternate arrangements for the Council Officers Meeting.

- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 congratulates its Officers, who were formally installed in a ceremony in the Parish Hall on Sunday, September 13, following the monthly 11:00 AM Knights Mass.

As per the September meeting...
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 reminds its members that, per a request from SK Fr. Peter Gillen, our council Chaplain, the monthly Rosary for Life and Vocations has been rescheduled from the first Monday of the month to the first Tuesday. Similarly, the monthly Meetings have been rescheduled from the second Wednesday of the month to the second Tuesday. We have hopes for the restoration of the normal schedule some time in early 2021.
- Having noted the change of date above, we remind all Knights of the monthly Rosary for Life and Vocations, and of the importance of their participation in this most Catholic devotion.
- St. Brendan- Morning Star Council No. 294 reminds all Officers that the Installation of Officers will take place on Sunday September 13, after the 11am Mass. All Knights are invited to attend. Families are welcome.
- Preliminary work continues towards the development of the Parish Food Pantry, to be sponsored by the Council. A meeting with representatives from Catholic Charities of Brooklyn & Queens should be occurring soon. Knights interested in participating should contact Grand Knight SK Alex DeMarchena. On a related note, Most Precious Blood Council No. 6134 is looking for volunteers to assist with their food pantry; this represents a great opportunity for our Knights to learn about food pantry operations, and to express and experience the fraternity between Knights from different councils.
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 notes the continuation of the Online Degree Exemplification programs, which can benefit aspirants to the Knights of Columbus in their joining, and existent Knights in the completion of their membership.

- In an effort to stimulate Council finances, a 50/50 will be inaugurated at the October meeting. All Knights are encouraged to participate. Remember... You Have To Be In It To Win It!
As per the August meeting...
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 joins with Knights throughout Brooklyn in congratulating Charles Shelley, PGK (St. Finbar Council No. 15728), and Louis Stuto, PGK (Most Precious Blood Council No. 6134), on their reception of the Leave No Neighbor Behind Award from the Supreme Council.
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 is pleased to announce that we have received the Columbian Award for 2019-2020 for Programs. Our thanks to all those Knights who make the programs a success.
- Although in the preliminary stages, the Council is once again hoping to make a go of a food pantry here at St. Brendan's. Stay tuned for further details.

An Important Announcement...
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 announces that the August Meetings have been rescheduled from Wednesday August 12 to Tuesday August 11. The meeting times will remain the same.

As per the July meeting...
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 opened the new Columbian year with great enthusiasm.
- Due to Coronavirus protocols, the monthly Rosary for Life and Vocations will remain suspended at this time.
- Although we are unable to host any at this time, due to Coronavirus protocols, the Council has made contact with the New York Blood Center to discuss the eventual hosting of a Blood Drive, possibly sometime in the Autumn.
- Due to developments in the Degree Exemplification processes, we have some hopes for being able to advance current First and Second Degree Knights to the Third Degree, and to be able to welcome new members as well.
- St. Brendan - Morning Star Council No. 294 offers it regards and best wishes to outgoing District Deputy Ed McGibbon, and offers a hearty welcome to incoming District Deputy Louis Stuto, Jr.
