Kittredge Magnet School's band program serves over 150 students daily, in six, instrument and grade-specific, classes. Band students participate in a variety of Georgia Music Educators Association events. These GMEA events include All-State Band auditions, District Honor Band, Solo and Ensemble, and Large Group Performance Evaluation.
When students decide to be a part of the Kittredge Band, after their first semester of 4th Grade, they will be given the choice between Woodwind, Brass and Percussion instruments.
Evan Arrington-Tsao is entering his sixth year as Band Director at Kittredge Magnet School. He is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia's Hugh Hodgson School of Music where he received his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education. While at UGA, he performed in ensembles including the Wind Symphony, Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble, and the Redcoat Marching Band. He has taught students of all ages in the North Georgia area.
Under the direction of Mr. A-T, the Kittredge 6th Grade Concert Band has received Excellent and Superior ratings at GMEA's Large Group Performance Evaluation. In 2019, the 6th Grade Concert Band earned 1st place Concert Band at the Music Showcase Festival at Six Flags Over Georgia.
In addition to his role as Band Director, he is one of the KMS Academic Bowl coaches and serves as the GMEA District 4 Secretary.
His professional and academic affiliations include the Georgia Music Educators Association, the National Association for Music Education, and Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. A-T enjoys cooking, photography, and rooting for the Georgia Bulldogs!
