Your upper extremity is your entire arms from the sockets of your shoulders down to the tips of your fingers. Find out how your child can strengthen these muscles below!
Required: Theraband
Have the student hold their arms out straight in front of them at shoulder level. Take the theraband roll and wrap it around the student's arms close to their wrists and tie a knot to make a loop. Cut there. The student can now reuse this loop.
Hold one arm straight out in front of you at shoulder level
With your helper hand place the band on the arm that is straight out
Now put your helper hand in the band as well and hold it straight out at shoulder level
Make sure the band is at your wrists like a huge bracelet. You can wiggle your arms or adjust the band with your hands
Open your arms as wide as you can like you are about to give a hug. The band will stretch with you
Bring your arms back to the starting position
Repeat 10 times
Stand in front of a wall and place both hands on it. Your elbows should be straight so take a step back if you are too close to the wall
Lean forward till you are almost touching the wall with your face
Push against the wall and lean back to standing
Repeat 10 times
Place objects on higher surfaces so that your child must reach their hand up high to get the object
