Myrtle was born in 1937 in Ferndale.  When she was about two-and-a-half her parents became aware that something was wrong and after time passed they realized that she was very hard of hearing.

 When she was six she was sent to Seattle to attend a public deaf school.  Myrtle was boarded in a private home near the school where they had deaf students.  She was there during the week and with Vic and Marian on the weekends.  She attended school in Seattle until junior high age and then circumstances influenced a change so she transferred to the Vancouver School for the Deaf.  She graduated from high school there.  After spending the summer at home she returned to Edison Technical School where she learned power sewing.

 At the Vancouver school, she met John Buckley and in 1961 they were married.  They have lived in Seattle and John has worked for Puckett Canning Company for 33 years.

 They have three daughters.  Cathy, Annette, and Priscilla.  Cathy went to further schooling in Washington, D..C and became an optical lab technician and works for an optical company in Tacoma.  Cathy was married in 1985, Priscilla in 1994, and Annette will be married this summer, 1996.
