I was born July 13, 1926 at Binford, North Dakota, the 8th child of Helmer and Alfrida Johnson. I attended school in Clearfield Township and helped my father’S farm. We moved to Frazee, Minnesota in the fall of 1943 and lived and farmed a few miles from the town. I was drafted into the Army in December 1944 and received training at Camp Roberts, California and Camp Maxey, Texas. I was sent to the Philippines in September 1945 and served there a year. I was discharged in November 1946. Hazel Richter and I were married October 22, 1949 and lived and farmed near Frazee. We have two daughters Vicki Eileen is married to Michael Perella and has a daughter Sarah Elizabeth. Barbara Elizabeth is married to James Nordstrom. She has two stepsons Michael James and Jason David. They have a son Grant Trevor.

Hazel and I farmed for 7 years, then quit farming and I worked at a service station. In 1965 I became a rural mail carrier at Frazee and held that job until I retired November 30, 1990. Hazel and I still live near Frazee. We have traveled around the United States by car and motorhome. We went to Norway in 1977, (other places in) Europe in 1984, took a Caribbean cruise in 1986 and visited the four Hawaiian islands for our 45th anniversary in 1994.

We are enjoying retirement, the children and grandchildren and living in our rural home. We do some skiing. We have been to the slopes in Montana, Colorado, Michigan, and Minnesota. We cross country ski on the back 50 acres. We have few health problems.

Levi was born July 13, 1926, to Helmer and Alfreda (Susag) Johnson near Binford, N.D.

He married Hazel Richter on Oct. 22, 1949, in Frazee. He farmed near Frazee, worked at the Perham Co-op Oil Co., and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 25 years as a rural mail carrier.

Levi is survived by his wife, Hazel Johnson, Fergus Falls; a daughter, Barbara (Jim) Nordstrom, Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Sarah Perilla, Bloomington, Grant Nordstrom, Fridley, Jason Nordstrom, Moorhead, Michael (Brenda) Nordstrom; great-grandchildren, Hanna, Haley, Abby, Noah, and Jada Nordstrom; a sister, Eleanor Ramsey, Cooperstown, N.D.; brothers Walter (Vi) Johnson, Port Angeles, Wash., and Mencer (Beverly) Johnson of Aitkin; a sister-in-law, Marian Flatau, Frazee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki Perilla in 2007; his parents Helmer and Alfreda Johnson; and siblings, Nina Trostad, Helen Shaw, Johnny Johnson, Lester Johnson, Arnold Johnson, Hillard Johnson and Norris Johnson.

Visitation: Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home, MN. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

Service: 2 p.m. Friday, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Frazee
