Description

Sock Puppets is an audio-recording app where students are able to make an audio recording. Students can choose the scenery, the puppet(s), props, and some other options. The audio recording then lip syncs with the puppets, resulting in a video combining the puppets, audio recording, and other student choices.

Differentiation

Sock Puppets allows through differentiations as it is an open-ended resource. Students can make multi-modal creations and are not set on one activity. Teachers can give individualized assignments for students to achieve based on their needs. Students may record a story retell, write a script with a friend and create it in Sock Puppets, or practice reading fluency strips and listen to the final video and assess their reading fluency.

Comprehension

Sock Puppets is a meaningful and fun tool that can help students build or apply comprehension skills. This resource allows students to make their own creations based off of creativity or to meet a learning prompt. Students may retell a story, retell it from a different point of view, or sing the ABCs. Students may build language comprehension skills as they are able to listen to their final project. Students may recreate and fix something they heard that could be done differently, self-asses, or listen for areas that need more work (ie: fluency or expression).

Possible Downfalls

Students may get a bit distracted as the final video uses different voices. While this is a fun addition, some students may get distracted by it.
