Esther bravely went to the King to ask him to save her people. Mordecai was rewarded once again and given Haman's house. Esther and Mordecai were safe, but the rest of the Jews are about to be killed. Esther begged King Xerxes to stop the law, but unfortunately, he couldn't. But, he could make a new law that made it almost impossible for the old law to be carried out. The new law made it so that the Jews could defend themselves against anyone who attacked them.
There was a lot of rejoicing that God helped them defeat their enemies. Mordecai is given Haman's position in the palace, which made him second in command to the the King.
God saved His chosen people from being killed. He used Esther to rescue His people.
God didn't just save His people long ago, he still saves his people today. Jesus came and lived a perfect, sinless life and died on the cross to take the punishment for the sins of people - all people. Jesus came to rescue us!
Let's compare King Xerxes to God our King:
Is a human.
Sins.
Isn't always wise, good, or just.
Always forgives.
Is always just and wise.
Is always approachable.
Created a rescue plan for us because He loves us.
Read chapters 8-10 of Esther.
Think about a way that you have sinned against God. Ask God to forgive you of that sin.
God is good and loving and wants to be with us forever. We see that in Romans 6:23
The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Pray and thank God for Jesus and his plan to rescue us.
