For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth...all things were created through him and for him. Colossians 1:16
Jesus was there before creation began, Jesus helped create everything. He helps hold everything together and he rescues us from sin.
We will explore how God used a family to fulfill a promise that he made in the very beginning that led all the way to Jesus.
God made all of creation and it was good. He created Adam and Eve, and they lived in God's perfect place. But, they decided to disobey God and that caused sin to enter the world. God's perfect creation was broken and Adam and Eve had to leave the garden. Even before they left the garden, God gave them hope that a rescuer would defeat Satan and sin forever. So, what did God do when sin entered the world? God promised a Savior!
Adam and Eve had two sons, and they were hopeful that one of them would be the rescuer that God talked about. That wasn't the case and the sins of the people grew. They were messy. God didn't forget his promise and they had another son, Seth. Seth wasn't perfect, but God kept his promise to one day save his people through the family of Seth.
For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100:5
In the Bible, we can see the family tree of Jesus. We learned that it started with Adam and Eve. Talk about your family tree.
God asked Adam and Eve to obey Him. We are called to obey God too. Is it always easy to obey God? What makes it hard?
Practice Psalm 100:5.
Pray and thank God for his promise of a Savior.
