To address the whole-child and the emotional needs that accompany that, I have taken courses through Mindful Schools on how to incorporate Mindfulness into the school setting. The practice of mindfulness allows students to get in touch with their inner dialogue and help to regulate their emotions and reactions. I have seem amazing self-awareness develop, even in my youngest students.
Redmond School District has provided an amazing opportunity with Open Doors to Math. The past two years Stephanie Wilcox has lead this amazing class exploring how to make math engaging, meaningful and focused on collaborative problem solving. Through this class I have found strategies like number talks and the habits of mind that have become an integral part of my math instruction. These strategies provide EVERY student an opportunity to engage in the math conversation and build confidence.
Google Classroom has become an integral tool for my class and has created ease of access for our critical websites. Within Google Drive, Sheets, Slides, Survey, Docs, and Calendar all play a vital role in my work and I am very confident in their use.
Data can tell us so much about student growth and progress. I have participated in countless RTII professional developments and worked in a fine tuned system with our administration and Title I team.
