LESSON OUTLINE

Part A: Introduction to Graphic Design

  1. Learn about graphic design. Watch "The Universal Arts of Graphic Design" video. (End at 1:35)

  2. Show photos and types of graphic design in Singapore.

  3. Watch video clip "Beginning Graphic Design Fundamentals" LINE (0:45-1:51)

Part B: Design with Sketch.io

Introduce Sketch.io.

    1. Start a new A4 size document. 297 x 210mm

    2. Try each lesson out in the "Digital Art" page to practise designing with lines and shapes.

Part C: Typography, Layout and Composition

  1. Watch "Typography" video.

  2. Learn about fonts, serif, sans serif.

  3. Watch video "Drawing Lines with Sketch.io"

  4. Watch "Layout and Composition" video.

  5. Learn to think of design objectives and target audience for their design.

  6. Learn arrow tool "SELECT" and variety of brush/pen tool options.

  7. Create sheet of sample brush/pen examples. Focus on line.

  8. Draw design elements from book cover design.

Part D: Design Planning and Creation

  1. Re-watch video "Beginning Graphic Design Fundamentals"

  2. Continue creating design elements for your design.
