I’m working part time at the mall and really living the adult life! I’m excited to join clubs (probably environmental based) and aspire to become a peer mentor at my college. IB was the best decision I’ve ever made, besides becoming a ~green terror~
Jesie Jumawid. Kenwood Class of 2021 Valedictorian. Community College of Baltimore County. IB Diploma Recipient.
My first step after graduating high school is to take my prerequisites for Pharmacy at CCBC under a General Studies major. After taking all my prereqs, I will transfer to a university for School of Pharmacy in UMD or NDMU (the list will go on after I look into more schools), and graduate with my Bachelor's and PharmD degrees at the same time. As an IB graduate, I am more than ready to take on college work. I've earned quite a number of college credits because of my IB credits! I had a love-hate relationship with the program, but I do love how it trained me to have a strong mentality and be prepared for college. I will be taking 6 classes this Fall semester, and I plan to join CCBC's Honor Program in the Spring semester to challenge myself more. I also look forward to joining clubs and finding work inside/ near campus.
Daniel Szczepaniak. Kenwood High School Class of 2021. Towson University. IB Diploma Recipient.
Participating in the IB Program was an intricate part of my high school career and receiving my IB Diploma was probably one of the BEST moments of my life! Since graduation I have been taking a little time for myself to enjoy summer and spend time with my friends and family! I will be attending college at Towson University this fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. I plan to work part time as well and hope to hear from some employers soon.
Haley Haines, Kenwood Class of 2019, Wellesley College Class of 2023. IB Diploma Recipient.
I am a rising junior at Wellesley College majoring in Biological Sciences on the pre-med track; I hope to become an OB/GYN in the future! On campus, I have been involved in biomedical research (which is also my part-time job!) focusing on the effects of a common chemotherapy drug. I got to present part of my research in a conference this past spring!
I am a part of Wellesley for Reproductive Justice as the Peer Education and Outreach Director where I receive training from Planned Parenthood in Boston and spread educational resources on campus. I am also a DJ with our college’s radio station—WZLY 91.5 FM—and this year, I am the Intern Coordinator, where I train anyone who wants to become a DJ (on top of planning fun events for our new interns!)
Off campus, I am a remote helpline volunteer with the National Eating Disorders Association. I also got into embroidery and sewing over quarantine!
Simranjeet Kaur, Kenwood IB Class of 2019, Stevenson University Class of 2023
I am a rising Junior at Stevenson University majoring in nursing and hope to work in the NICU. On campus I have been a part of Asian Culture Club and the Service and Leadership program. I have been doing service outside of school and in school. I volunteer at various places one of them being an assisted living home near me. I will be volunteering at the food pantry at my school in the fall and am excited for that. I also am a part of the NSNA at my school where we have nurses come in and tell us stories about their experiences as well as take part in various activities. I am also really excited to be starting clinical rotations in the fall.
Word of advice: Just keep working hard there are many obstacles that come in life and you always have to find a way to overcome them.
Brittany Richardson, Kenwood IB 2018 Graduate, Veterinary Nursing Major at Wilson College Class of 2022
- I absolutely love my school! It is a small school, which is what I need. I love that we have farm animals on campus, horses on campus, horseback riding teams, and a veterinary education center, staffed with a veterinarian, professors who are registered or certified veterinary technicians, kennel cats and dogs, surgical suites, treatment rooms, and more.
- I currently am a Veterinary Technician Intern at Banfield Pet Hospital. I love how dedicated my team is and how all we want is to help your pet.
- Word of Advice: Keep pushing, even though it may seem like you can’t make it. You will make it through, stronger and brighter. You are not alone, reach out. Your teachers and future professors/bosses want to see you succeed!
