IB magnet students take AP courses in the social studies sequence for additional college credits. (AP Government in grade 9, AP US History in grade 10) Beginning in junior year, 7 of 8 courses taken are IB courses.

Individual courses
Can earn college credits if students pass the exam
Accepted in many US colleges and universities
Lengthy exams with a focus on multiple choice and information recall
Scored only on the timed high pressure exams
IB
Individual courses AND the IB Diploma across all subjects for academically motivated students
Can earn college credits if students pass the exam
Accepted in many US and International colleges and universities
Many universities accept the IB Diploma for 30 college credits
Spaced out exams (1-2 hours at a time) with emphasis on critical thinking and written expression
Overall scores also include an independent project worked on during class. Exam scores are not solely based on the high stakes timed component.
