There are two common types of storage
Magnetic Drive. e.g Magnetic Tape, Hard Disk Drive
Solid State Drive e.g USB,
Optical Drive e.g CD, DVD, Blu-ray, Laser Discs
The difference between Hard Disk Drive and Solid State Drive. The image above shows the components in each of the drive.

Other types of storage that is worth mentioning is Optical storage devices e.g CD-ROM, DVD. This form of storage uses lasers to read and write data.
