The MoErgo STEP file template for the left-hand side car, in case anyone wants to start designing their own. Feel free to make any modifications.

Duplicating the points from reddit:
if it's the same pointing device: when separating the boards, be extra careful. use a bit of wire and lots of solder to hit all the solder connections at once; make sure never to apply force or you'll tear the pads out
there's only 4 important pins out of 8: 3 are for button switches, and 1 is left unused as far as I know. the order is: k1, k2, k3, 5v, unused (reset?), then two pins for clk/data, dunno which is which, then gnd.
I worked out a way to solder a JST ZH 1.5 socket to the little trackpoint board so it's possible to replace the usb with a direct GPIO connection cable when the Glove firmware starts supporting trackpoint (and if desired, you can solder a socket to the big USB board too, though that's overkill :)
newer version with the JST connector

Dave Jones: I'm going to continue to iterate on it, but here's my current guide and 3d models for my Trackpoint Sidecar: https://github.com/unixmonkey/glove80-trackpoint Planning on adding dedicated Kailh button switches next, but currently using mouse-emulation with some dedicated keys on the right thumb cluster. so I gave up on the trackball, and went for a cirque trackpad instead (super hacky for now, as I'm using an extra rp2040 controller/qmk - don't boo me), for now standalone, waiting for zmk to support it (in i2c)

I've now been running this for a couple of weeks and I'm fairly happy with it.
Currently this uses an unmodified Ploopy Nano bottom half.
0xholman: Made this absolute monstrosity with insides of a g903, worked surprisingly okay, but ordered a bastardkb pmw3360 breakout lol gonna do it proper.
Lemth — Modded the wristrest to integrate a thumb trackball with the mouse keys located on the bottom row. Comfortable 2-row shift to switch between typing and pointing.
Diablow: Just consider the position you place the ball sensors module, try to align it with your hand movements but still matching what you see on screen. If you place it randomly you might end with high levels of frustration. Logitech Ergo M575

Simon Something: A bit stuck on my next sidecar thingy: as everyone was doing it, I had to sacrifice a trackball.

Glove80 all kitted out for the winter with a 20 watt silicone heating element pasted onto each palm rest. The one I bought doesn’t seem to exist any more, but this is very similar: https://a.aliexpress.com/_okPYuYF
20w is a lot too much for putting your hands on it directly though, so you need something to reduce the power. A dimmer suitable for led lights can work. I think I used one of these because it’s what I had, though the network control is ridiculously overkill.

Steps to disconnect the battery:
Discharge the battery slightly (set RGB to 100% and run for about 30 minutes). You can monitor the discharge level using the magic key. If one side discharges faster, turn it off when it reaches around 50%.
Turn both devices off.
Flip them over and unscrew the bottom plate.
Loosen the palm rest so it pops off.
Open the backside to access the battery—be careful not to stretch the cables.
Do not pull the battery cable, as it's not designed to withstand much force.
Unplug the battery. You can leave it in place, as it may be glued down—there’s no need to remove it (it doesn't get particularly hot inside).
There is a small ledge on the connector. You can loosen it with gentle wiggling and slight force.
Move the connector aside and close everything back up.
Repeat the process on the other side.
inxi: I did something kind-of similar. It's not as stylish, but one of these adds 65g, and I got a package of 35 of them for $35 on Amazon warehouse. I used Uhu Tac as an adhesive. I have 31 remaining.
