Through this highly interactive exploration youth will receive direct instruction in portrait photography, principles of design, and visual storytelling for understanding. Through hands-on experience participants will be introduced to the tools and language necessary to effectively use photography and storytelling to uplift our collective humanity through culturally infused portrait photography and photo essays.
This interactive exploration is a curation of lessons in documentary photography, principles of design, and storytelling for understanding. Our curriculum provides participants hands-on, experiential learning using current and culturally relevant materials. Participants will be introduced to the tools and language necessary to effectively use photography and storytelling in their social entrepreneurial efforts.
This interactive exploration is a curation of lessons in documentary photography, principles of design, and storytelling for understanding. Participants will be introduced to the tools and language necessary to effectively use photography and storytelling in their development of their identities and their understanding of themselves and others in society. We will examine the stories told about people who inhabit their identities, and give students the tools to create counternarratives to tell their stories from their perspectives.

The "Digital Media Arts" are the continually emerging application of digital tools to traditional arts explorations as well as new creative endeavors made possible through digital and emerging technologies.
Digital media arts course explore multimedia journalism/storytelling, graphic design, design & fabrication, computer aided design (CAD), web design, digital photography, digital filmmaking, various forms of digital animation, video game design and more.
At my current school students explore the digital media arts in all of their classes throughout our Project Zero inquiry based, maker-centered learning and arts infused curriculum.

Current interests include making, maker-centered learning, design and systems thinking for social change-
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) are the umbrella categories that encompass educational explorations at the nexus of these discreet disciplines. robotics, maker initiatives, and computer programming are part of STEM/STEAM.

Technology/Computing & Media Literacy
While teaching Information and Media Literacy at Brooklyn Friends School I had the opportunity to teach several students in a self-directed study of Filmmaking, &/or Screenwriting, travel to Palestine to co-produce the film Two Students, Two Schools, and the privilege of working with The Brooklyn Film Festival.
I'm proud to say that many of my students are working in visual storytelling worldwide. Most recently I am particularly proud of this one....
