My plan of action was to examine my classroom's write ups. I want to look at which students are receiving the write ups. After looking at the data I will collaborate with a preschool teacher and create a structured recess time in which specific skills will be targeted. I will invite support staff to the classroom to engage with students during structured recess. I will invite support staff to debrief at the end of the week and talk through what happened during structured recess. My plan is to create a small group time in which bias can be discussed as well as generational poverty and historical trauma.
Explore and Challenge Inequity: Sharing with others my own personal bias and creating a safe place in which to have deep discussions about bias that exists within the community and the school setting.
Personal Effectiveness: Finding my own style of leadership while sharing my passions with others.
Communication: Sharing my own personal story with others and educating support staff on the effects of generational poverty and historical trauma.
Coach and mentoring: I have one teacher in particular who has mentored me and I look to her for guidance in learning how to become a strong mentor. I want to invite support staff to work directly with students during structured recess and find their own strengths when working with students.
How will your leadership leverage the strengths and address the needs of diverse stakeholders to support the action plan, develop capacity, broaden decision-making, and learn collaboratively?
My leadership style is build upon creating and cultivating relationships with people. I will continue to share dialogue with support staff if they are receptive to conversation.
How will you use collaboration, questioning, data, and reflection during the implementation of your action plan?
I will use collaboration throughout my entire capstone project. I will collaborate with the MBI team and a preschool teacher to create a plan for structure recess. I will use questioning when debriefing about structured recess with support staff. I will examine data again at the end of the school year to see what time of write ups my students have. I will continue to reflect and adapt during this time to meet the needs of the support staff.
How will you address obstacles that you may encounter in implementing your plan?
There will be obstacles that I will encounter as I am working with adults who have very strong opinions and their own personal story. My intention is not to take negative feedback personally but to think about how I can create a healthy relationship with adults who work closely with me and my students.
How will you know if your action plan is successful? What evidence would support your claim?
If my action plan is successful I will hopefully see a decrease in write ups. My evidence will be the graph that I create at the end of the school year. Also, I will receive feedback both positive and negative if my debriefing meeting is successful. I will adjust my plan as needed for support staff.

Communication through email between myself and the school counselor
I collected and examined all the Lunch Learning Opportunities (LLO), Tune Up, and Office Referrals. I think that there could have been more of each category but after March the LLO were down significantly.
I created a time line of skills that I would use during structured recess. I invited support staff to come and participate with the class. Some support staff came others did not. I chose to share this time line and staff could pick which weeks to join.
