Promote inclusive pedagogy
Develop and share inclusive pedagogy tools through faculty meetings and online resources
Provide resources for faculty grants on broader impacts statements
Make departmental policies and procedures more equitable
Select one DEI committee faculty member and one DEI intern for participation on each tenure-track faculty search committee as voting members
Select one DEI committee faculty member to participate on each full-time visiting faculty search committee
Regularly review practices for student hiring
Work with the Dean of Keck Science and Institutional Research and Assessment professionals at the Keck Science member colleges to ensure tracking of data related to DEI goals (hiring, retention, student success)
Foster a departmental culture that supports students, staff, and faculty facing systemic barriers
Ensure regular opportunities for departmental DEI training, at least once each semester
Review website and other departmental communications for alignment with DEI goals, upon request
Communicate with Diversity committees at the Keck Science member colleges
Connect with folks across the colleges who we can connect to community members with concerns or incidents.
Review draft of departmental DEI principles and bring to the department
Looking for funding opportunities to expand the intern program / other initiatives

Sent proposal to add DEI criteria to reappointment, promotion, and tenure to the RPT committee
Sent proposal for new student feedback forms and digital administration of feedback forms to EC
Added a section on student hiring to the equity in hiring living document
