KCS participates in both boys and girls Basketball at first year, second year, u16 and u19. Our boys compete in the Clare league while our girls are in the Kerry League. Basketball is hugely popular in the school and we work with the local club, Kilrush Basketball Club, to promote participation and enjoyment in the sport.

We are also very proud of our past pupil, Sadhbh Edwards Murphy, who is currently on a basketball scholarship in The University of Akron where she is studying Physical Therapy.

Boys and girls participate at a variety of age levels in Gaelic football in both Munster and Clare competitions. KCS works with all of our feeder clubs to enhance skill development and foster an environment where participation and enjoyment are to the fore.

Students have the opportunity to play badminton on a Wednesday afternoon after school. The skills of the game are learned in a fun and enjoyable way. Students from all years play together and it is a great way to meet new friends while being physically active at the same time.

Kilrush Community School has a history steeped in association with Athletics/Cross Country in West Clare. Our students have competed in the Munster Multi Event School Games, Schools Cross Country across all divisions in County Clare, North Munster, Munster & All Ireland.

Our students have represented our school at the highest levels and we are proudly associated with Cross Country clubs in our community.

Kilrush Community School provides students with opportunities to represent their school at both County and National level Athletics/Cross Country. We are very proud of our students' success in the past and look forward to the future.

Students can participate on the school golf team, Junior and Senior, and we have a very good relationship with neighbouring golf clubs where our students play. We are very proud of our past pupil Shane Lillis who is currently on a Golf Scholarship in The University of Tennessee Southern.

Munster rugby, in conjunction with Kilrush rugby club, provide fully qualified coaches to train our students during the academic year. The coaching is available for both male and female students. Beginners are welcome to come along and try it out.
