My main aim as president is to help you, the society, make a lasting impact on our community. I aim to foster a safe, supportive environment for all committee members where thoughts and opinions can be shared freely, where every opinion is considered and collaborative decisions are made for the best of the society.
My goals as president are to:
1. Increase the profile of the society nationally and internationally by -
a. Ensuring open lines of communication between various paediatric societies and authority bodies such as the RCPCH.
b. Helping you host collaborative events with different organizations.
c. Increasing the scope of our audience by helping you advertise our amazing educational, charity and wellbeing events to students outside medicine.
2. Help committee members develop their leadership, organizational and communication skills during their time on committee
Ultimately, it would be an honor and privilege for me to help you achieve the vision and legacy you plan on creating for this committee by supporting you. You all present a wealth of experience and are a treasure trove of truly brilliant ideas. I look forward to working with you and making your vision a reality if chosen as your President.
I have been involved in the Paediatric Society for the last 4 years, beginning as an SABL volunteer before becoming the SABL scheme coordinator, then secretary and finally Vice President. I have also been involved in a variety of committee positions such as:
• Most recently, Surgical Society President (20/21) and previously an Outreach Officer (19/20)
• Trauma and Orthopaedic Society events officer 2019/20
• KCL Science Communication Society Marketing Officer 2018/19
• England Brain Bee Education Lead (2018-2020), 2018 National Brain Bee Competition Organiser and 2019 Regional (London) Brain Bee Competition Organiser
Therefore I believe I can help you with any challenges you may face in your role, from finding appropriate speakers to sorting food for events (if regulations allow in the next year!), to applying for funding and navigating the intricacies of KCLSU policies.
