Hi, I’m Rayhan, a 2nd year Biomedical Science student running for the position of Charity Events Officer! I’m running because this year’s events were really fun and organised well (despite difficult circumstances). I want to continue this, and I’ve got a few ideas on how to improve attendance whilst transitioning from online to offline events.
For instance, sending occasional surveys through the newsletter to ask members what days are best for you to attend and offering events online if you cannot come into campus. Additionally, I’d like to introduce fun initiatives, e.g., members who attend 3+ charity events are automatically put into a raffle where they could win a prize!
I’d want to send out surveys for your feedback, so the next event is even better than the last. I want to also work with the outreach officer to help invite more students to the society – through our charity events, they can learn more about the other wonderful events and projects we offer!
Thank you for taking the time to read my manifesto - feel free to get into contact with me to ask questions about my ideas here: 1923511@kcl.ac.uk. Take care and stay safe! :)
In sixth form, I was the finance officer in the Islamic Society, and I was part of the Charity Events team. During Charity Week (a large-scale international project where students in universities and sixth forms fundraise for orphans and children worldwide), I was responsible for contacting organisations in the community for sponsorships, as well as researching and contacting charities to work with.
We organised and held fun, exciting events for both internal and external students, where we managed to raise over £7000 in a week!
