Slide that is fast but safe
No fence between equipment and parking or the rest of the park
Hobby Hill is one of our family's favorite parks. It's prominent feature is a large rope climber with a slide from the top. The kids love the ustructured climbing challenge of a rope climber, and the slide offers plenty of speed and excitement without throwing kids off at the bottom. The park also has a second rope climbing tower without a slide. Completing the climbing area is a large rock climbing structure that gives the kids a sense of danger without taking them too high off the ground. The park also has a zip-line which is always a hit, although there is no platform to help smaller kids get on the seat.
For smaller kids, there is a toddler climber with slide as well as a two web swings and a spinning element. One issue that we noticed is that the toddler area is seperated from the big kid area by the pavilion and some landscaping. This could present an issue for parents trying to keep track of multiple children at the same time. While there is no fencing around any of the play areas, there are natural borders including landscaping and rocks that help define the edges of the playground.
The playground area has a nice pavilion with clean bathrooms attached. There are also multiple water fountains, including a dog watering station. The park also has a really pretty paved walking trail. This is especially nice for parents because the playground area is visible from the entire trail. We like get a few laps in while the kids play. There is also a disc golf course in the park.
*Special Note: If you search for Hobby Hill Park on your Maps App, it may take you to the other side of the park. The entrace to the playground is on North Broadway which is on the west side of the park.
