The mind belonged to a man running down the halls of the castle. He had metal bits in his pockets that jabbed into his thigh. He rounded a corner to a bunch of shouting. He flicked his wrist, pulling the metal out of his pocket with his Aatma. He stood back and set eyes on the messy scene.
His men, dressed in white, were battling guards in armor with swords. He watched them fight, their Aatmas clashing together. He wished that he had brought more Blazers. Fire was more effective and destructive than wind, and sadly he was only supplied with a bunch of inexperienced Breakers.
These fools could only produce a small amount of wind. They could make it sharp and use it as a deadly weapon, but it was no better than using a sword. He sighed. Apparently the Empress didn’t want his mission to succeed, she gave him the bare minimum to attack the castle.
He flicked his wrist, sending the metal bits forward towards the guards. He walked forward without a care. The guards collapsed with either gasps or screams around him. He flicked his wrist and raised his hand in the air, calling the metal back towards him. He held his hand in the air, holding it up over himself, ready for another attack.
He looked at the hall around him. If his information was correct then this was the floor of the royal chambers and the second entrance to the library-which of course was the most important part. Why have an entrance to the library on the same floor as where they royals stayed? There could only be one reason for that: a hiding place for the royals. The library could hold dozens of hiding places, it was the perfect place.
He motioned to the goons around him. He gestured to the doors of the library. He would bet his life that the queen, king, and two princes were in there and if he was lucky the girl who was said to be Princess Elina. He waited for them to open the doors. It took a few of them a moment to realize what his signal meant. The man rolled his eyes, couldn’t the Empress supply him with some experienced idiots?
He sighed as shoved the idiots out of his way and slammed the door open himself. He marched into the library and looked around. They were on the second floor of the library, below there were more shelves and a few study tables. One of them had an open book on it. He grinned. Someone was definitely here.
“Boys, search the shelves for books that would be a latch to a secret hide away and look at the tops for anyone trying to hide among the books.”
He stood and watched the men disperse among the shelves. The man stood tall, watching the men throw books off the shelves and tear the neat shelves apart. There had to be a hiding place here. It was one of the biggest rooms in the whole castle and it was the closest to the royal rooms. He continued thinking as he walked.
It was strange to have two libraries in a castle, one was big and nearly took up an entire floor to itself, but then there was this one. It was smaller and went up two floors, but it was noticeably smaller than the main library. Why even bother having your own personal library when you already had one? Maybe the royals were trying to throw him off track, but it would be foolish.
This was the most logical place. He had to stop doubting himself. He planned this mission perfectly and there was no way it could go wrong. He just had to kill one royal. It was the first step to tearing this kingdom to the ground. Getting rid of a royal. The kingdom would mourn the loss of a ruler and question the safety that the leaders can provide. If a royal wasn’t safe, then who was?
A scream pulled the man out of his thoughts. He looked ahead to where the scream had come from. A big smile crossed his face. A man and a woman had been pulled out from a row of bookshelves. One was a man who’s hair was turning grey. He had glasses on and an outfit that was too nice for any ordinary servant. This had to be the librarian.
And the woman with him….the man frowned. She wasn’t dressed fancy. She wore clothes that were old and a little too small for her. It wasn’t the queen. He couldn’t care less for a servant.
The man however, was the librarian. He had to be trusted by the king and queen. That meant he had information. He smiled as he looked at the man. He looked at the three goons who had caught them.
“Put the servant woman with the other servants in the grand hall. Leave the librarian with me. I have a few questions I would like to ask him.” The man said, his eyes not leaving the man.
The goons laughed as they dragged the woman away. The librarian stayed on the ground, breathing heavily as he stared at the man. The man walked towards him with a big smile.
“Hello Mr.Librarian. I believe that you have information on where I might be able to find a royal.” The man watched the librarian’s eyes widen. So he did know where he could find one after all. “Men, I believe we just found a treasure map to the royals.”
The librarian shook his head wildly. “No! I don’t know where any royals are! I swear! I don’t know!”
The man sighed. He didn’t exactly expect the librarian to tell him, but he always hated doing things the hard way. The man waved his hand, giving the order to the goons to get the answer through force. Why did everyone choose the hard way today?
