Project Description

For this project, I was asked to choose a location outside of the United States to learn about the cultural and technology aspects. I was also asked to choose a partner to compare and contrast global technology issues between our locations. My partner and I decided to compare and contrast the digital divide and culture between The Bahamas and Panama.

I have created a fact sheet in Microsoft Word to display the cultural and technology aspects in The Bahamas.

My partner and I created a powerpoint slideshow to compare and contrast the cultural and technology aspects of The Bahamas and Panama. I learned that Panama and The Bahamas experience the same climate patterns year round.

Lessons Learned

After completing this project, I've learned that the digital divide exists in rural areas and large portions of The Bahamas and Panama. Both countries are struggling to provide access to the internet in those areas, but are finding ways to reduce the digital divide. I've also learned that this lack of access has seriously impacted both country’s economic development, education system, and overall well-being. By bridging the digital divide in both countries can create new opportunities for businesses to thrive, provide students the ability to access tools necessary to succeed in school, and increase over-all wellbeing.
