As part of academic studies and enhancing the writing skills of essay type answers, I felt fortunate to actively participate in Advanced Academic Writing Certificate Course for Students in English Studies
I secured 78% in this Certificate course.
About this course:
The Course was offered by Department of English, Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University. University students in English studies may have difficulties writing a successful literary argument, particularly students writing in English as a second/foreign language. These difficulties may be related to:
• English language competence;
• lack of understanding of the requirements of writing a literary argument, for instance, connecting the portrayal of characters in the literary work being analyzed with the main argument, analyzing the literary text from critical literary theories, evaluating characters’ behaviors and the qualities of the literary work being analyzed, developing a personal response to the text, supporting the argument being made with quotation from other critics and from original text, etc.;
• Lack of understanding of the context in which the literary work was written and the intention of the writer;
• Lack of exposure to the ways a literary argument is logically organized, for example, how to write an introduction, the body and the conclusion of academic essay or paper;
• Making appropriate linguistic choices.
Therefore, to address these difficulties, the department of English- MKBU- has designed an online module of “Advanced Academic Writing for Students in English Studies”. This module raises students’ awareness of the requirements of writing a literary argument. It teaches students the languages they need to write a successful academic essay or paper. Specifically, it scaffolds students into the language they need to interpret the portrayal of characters from critical literary theories, to evaluate the qualities of the literary works being analyzed, to evaluate the behaviors of characters in the work being analyzed and to develop a personal response to the literary text. It shows students how to logically organize their arguments in academic essays or papers. More importantly, it makes students practice writing academic essays or papers at lot. In this regard, the module comprises the following units:
• Writing a response to a literary text (requirements)
• Academic style and language
• Important features of a response to a literary text
• Writing an academic essay as a response to a literary text
• Writing a research paper as a response to a literary text
• Exercises

As part of academic Semester 1, I have completed a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), in AE E-Teacher Program’s 2019 Integrating Critical Thinking Skills into the Exploration of Culture, offered by Canvas digital learning.
About this course:
The Integrating Critical Thinking Skills into the Exploration of Culture in an EFL Setting MOOC is provided by World Learning, as part of the American English (AE) E-Teacher Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. government and administered by FHI 360. It is a self-paced MOOC, meaning that students will study independently, without facilitation from an instructor.
The Integrating Critical Thinking into the Exploration of Culture in an EFL Setting MOOC presents participants with a working definition of culture and tools for analyzing, understanding, and negotiating differences between cultures. Participants explore what critical thinking is and why it is necessary for the development of intercultural competence. With a view toward preparing teachers to implement culture and critical thinking lessons into their current teaching contexts, participants work through numerous examples of related activities and lesson plan elements, as well as ways of evaluating students’ progress in these areas. Participants who complete all required activities with a score of 70% or higher will receive a digital badge and certificate.
The Political Compass
This is a survey. They are propositions.
Rules are like -
To question the logic of individual ones that irritate you is to miss the point. Some propositions are extreme, and some are moderate. That’s how we can show you whether you lean towards extremism or moderation on the Compass. Your responses should not be overthought. Some of them are intentionally vague. Their purpose is to trigger reactions in the mind, measuring feelings and prejudices rather than detailed opinions on policy.
