We are all works in progress.
My current professional endeavor is navigating the field of Project Management.
With all the knowledge I have acquired from different trainings, I suppose project management has been at play for a great portion of my life.
Back in high school, I remember doing this notable math group project. It wasn't of any outstanding academic excellence, but it was truly significant to me.
Despite not being a math whiz, my creative side enabled me to visualize our goal. And sure enough, collaborating with like minded peers pushed our project to great heights, which was why we were subsequently chosen to represent our school at a local competition. Now our group may not have brought home the bacon then, but I certainly carried that honor as I got older, and even to this day.
Being part of a creative solution definitely made so much sense to me.
Taking the Google Project Management certificate course has widened my horizon, making me reach into my untapped potential. It made me discover great possibilities and even greater opportunities for growth. And so I thought, what do I with all this wealth of knowledge?
I had two probable choices- go home or go big. Ambitious, right? Well if you could dream, you might as well dream big! I would either let everything overwhelm me, OR I could take on the complexity, an increment at a time. I was building my resilience, and I wasn't going to let anything bring me down. I had to map out my ideas and goals before they got the better of me.
I also have a knack for simplicity. This is where my appreciation for Scrum kicked in- leveraging complexity with simplicity. Before I even knew it, I was already living the Agile mindset. All this while, the challenges and difficulties we have experienced in life have led me to my one true calling- towards the Scrum & Agile path!
My partner and I haven't always been dealt with the best set of cards, most times we were actually at a loss. But we made do with what we had and leveled the playing field. In fact we didn't break, we only came out stronger.
And so I found myself in a constant journey for discovery.
It's true that there is much we don't know, and yet, there is also so much we can learn.
My learning shall be a continuous, lifelong process.
Success is subjective, right? And at this point, I guess it's safe to say that I have reached my definition of success, with key milestones along the way. I am passionate, I am committed, therefore I am successful!
The beauty is in the journey, take it one step at time, and enjoy!
And should you find yourself applying for positions which you don't have the required experience for, consider my above approach. Do you love planning for family gatherings and other events? Or perhaps you love hosting friends at your home for a fun night? That's great! Describe how your personal stories relate to your desired role. Outline your most recent undertakings, highlight your strengths. Identify your weaknesses and take the necessary steps to improve on them.
Commit to a continuous path of learning.
We are all constant works in progress, and I'm just as excited to see your beautiful journey!
