The fourth trimester is a highly underutilized opportunity to fortify new mothers. Through childbirth the mother's body and spirit become receptive to care that will fortify her for the work of motherhood and to be a pillar of her community. What normally passes for proper postpartum care is hugely deficient, and results in the depletion of our new mothers. Depletion shows up in physical and mental illness which impacts her bond with her baby, ability to honor herself, and her ability to flourish in her community. Under these circumstances we are often faced with approaching postpartum mothers from a place of pathology. Planning for the fourth trimester is a proactive perspective to meeting the postpartum from a place of wellness.
This course will give you the information and encouragement to prioritize your physical and mental health, and cultivate your village. Community is foundational to healthy, thriving life. We will come together as a community of expecting families to learn from and support each other. You will be supported in creating your postpartum care plan, and it is a sincere hope you will find actionable support within the group.
