Katherine Bahena-Benitez is a multidisciplinary artist. She is also a proud daughter of Mexican and Indigenous immigrant farmworkers. She carries her raices/roots with her, everywhere she goes.
At the age of 11, Katherine began writing as a way to express her dreams, desires, fears, and frustrations. As a young girl, she never imagined writing or acting would lead to a career. Despite attending a high school renowned for its performing arts programs, Katherine didn’t pursue her creative passions in her youth. Instead, she kept her dreams locked away, only able to give them voice in the quiet of the night.
In college Katherine finally fully embraced her calling, taking writing and acting seriously for the first time. As the first in her family to pursue a career in the arts, she faced obstacles, but her determination to make her dreams a reality pushed her forward.
Katherine has since carved a path in storytelling and is intentionally working to pave the way for others with similar backgrounds. Her creative journey continues to evolve, and Katherine has expanded her storytelling into new realms, exploring film, creative direction, dance, photography, music, and more. She is driven by a desire to create spaces where voices like hers are heard and celebrated. Que viva el arte.
