Welcome to Kathakosh. These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Kathakosh mobile application, website pages, services, features, content, subscriptions, competitions, and related services.
By using Kathakosh, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. About Kathakosh
Kathakosh is a Marathi reading and writing platform where users can read stories, write and publish stories, follow writers, save stories, like, comment, rate story parts, receive notifications, subscribe for reading access, and participate in writing competitions.
Kathakosh is free to install. Writing stories and participating in Kathakosh writing competitions is free. Reader subscription may be required only to read locked story parts after the free reading limit.
2. Eligibility
You may use Kathakosh only if you are legally allowed to use digital services under applicable laws.
Kathakosh is not primarily directed to children. Because the app contains user-generated content, public interaction, subscriptions, and writing competitions that may include cash prizes, users should use the app only if legally permitted under applicable laws and platform rules.
Cash prize winners may be required to confirm that they are at least 18 years old and provide valid verification details before prize distribution.
3. User Account
To access some features, you may need to log in using mobile OTP or another supported method.
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your device and account secure
- Providing accurate profile information
- Not allowing unauthorized use of your account
- Informing us if you suspect misuse of your account
We may restrict, suspend, or remove accounts that violate these Terms, misuse the platform, or create risk for other users or Kathakosh.
4. User Profiles
Users may create or edit their profile, pen name, bio, role, and profile photo.
Some profile information, such as pen name, display name, profile photo, bio, follower count, ratings, and published stories, may be visible to other users.
Users must not use false identity, abusive names, copyrighted images, impersonation, misleading information, or unlawful profile content.
5. User-Generated Content
Kathakosh allows users to write, upload, publish, edit, and share stories, story parts, titles, descriptions, categories, cover images, comments, ratings, and other content.
You are fully responsible for the content you upload or publish.
You agree not to upload or publish content that is:
- Illegal or unlawful
- Abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing
- Defamatory or misleading
- Sexually explicit, obscene, or exploitative
- Promoting violence, terrorism, self-harm, or illegal activity
- Infringing copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights
- Copied from another writer, platform, book, website, app, social media page, or source without permission
- Spam, fraudulent, or harmful to the platform
- Against Google Play policies or applicable laws
Kathakosh may review, hide, remove, restrict, or report content that violates these Terms, community standards, copyright rules, platform policies, or applicable laws.
6. Ownership of User Content
Writers retain ownership of the original stories and content they create and publish on Kathakosh.
By publishing content on Kathakosh, you grant Kathakosh a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, distribute, promote, format, and make your content available inside the app and related Kathakosh services.
This license is necessary for Kathakosh to operate the platform, show your stories to readers, display your public profile, promote stories, manage competitions, and provide app functionality.
You confirm that you have the required rights and permissions for any content you upload.
7. Copyright and Takedown
Kathakosh respects intellectual property rights.
If you believe that any story, image, comment, profile, or content on Kathakosh violates your copyright or legal rights, contact us at:

Please include:
- Your name and contact details
- Description of the copyrighted work
- Link, story title, writer name, screenshot, or details of the allegedly infringing content
- Proof of ownership or authorization
- A statement that the complaint is accurate
Kathakosh may remove or restrict disputed content while reviewing the complaint.
False or misleading copyright claims may result in action against the complainant where legally appropriate.
8. Reading Membership and Subscriptions
Kathakosh may offer paid reading membership or subscription plans through Google Play Billing.
The app is free to install. Users may read free story parts without subscription. Reader subscription may be required to read locked story parts after the free reading limit, such as story parts after part 5.
Subscription benefits may include access to locked story parts, premium reading access, or other reading-related benefits shown inside the app.
Writing stories is free. Contest participation is free. Subscription is not required to participate in Kathakosh writing competitions, to be judged, or to win a prize.
Subscription pricing, duration, renewal, cancellation, refund, and payment handling are managed through Google Play and may be subject to Google Play’s terms and policies.
Kathakosh does not directly collect or store card, UPI, CVV, OTP, or banking details.
Access to paid reading content may depend on active subscription status verified through Google Play and Kathakosh systems.
9. Free and Locked Content
Kathakosh may allow some story parts to be read for free and may lock later parts for subscribed readers.
The number of free parts, locked parts, subscription benefits, and access rules may change from time to time.
At launch, Kathakosh may allow readers to read initial story parts for free and require subscription from later parts, such as part 6 onward.
Writers may write and publish stories without being paid members.
10. Competitions
Kathakosh may organize writing competitions, including Marathi story competitions such as महाराष्ट्राचा कथासंग्राम.
No separate entry fee or paid purchase is required to participate in Kathakosh writing competitions.
For महाराष्ट्राचा कथासंग्राम:
- Participation is free
- Subscription is not required to enter
- Subscription is not required to be judged
- Subscription is not required to win a prize
- Subscription does not increase the chance of winning
- No user can buy extra chances, paid boosts, paid ranking advantage, or additional contest entries
- Winners are selected based on story quality, originality, completion, rule compliance, reader response where applicable, and Kathakosh evaluation
Each competition may have separate rules regarding:
- Eligibility
- Story category
- Minimum and maximum number of parts
- Minimum word count
- Submission deadline
- Result date
- Prize amount
- Certificates
- Disqualification
- Judging method
By participating in a competition, users agree to follow the competition rules shown in the app or on the official Kathakosh legal pages.
Kathakosh may disqualify entries that violate rules, contain copied content, use fake engagement, or breach these Terms.
Kathakosh’s decision regarding competition eligibility, judging, disqualification, prizes, and results will be final unless changed due to error, fraud, legal requirement, or platform issue.
11. Cash Prizes and Recognition
Kathakosh may offer cash prizes, certificates, special mentions, or recognition for writing competitions.
Cash prizes are not based on lottery, betting, wagering, random draw, gambling, casino activity, fantasy sports, or chance-based winning.
Winners may be required to provide accurate information before prize distribution, including:
- Full legal name
- Age confirmation
- Contact details
- Identity proof, if required
- Bank or payment details
- Tax or compliance information, if required
Kathakosh may publish winner names, pen names, story names, prize categories, and recognition details in the app or related communications.
Prizes may be withheld, delayed, or cancelled if the winner violates rules, provides false information, cannot be verified, is underage where adult verification is required, or fails to respond within a reasonable time.
12. Comments, Ratings, Likes, and Follows
Users may interact with stories and writers through comments, likes, ratings, follows, saves, and other engagement features.
Users must not use these features for spam, abuse, manipulation, fake ratings, harassment, threats, or harmful behavior.
Kathakosh may remove comments, reset suspicious engagement, restrict accounts, or take moderation action where needed.
13. Reports and Moderation
Users may report stories, comments, profiles, plagiarism, copyright violations, abusive content, or other policy violations.
Kathakosh may review reported content and take action at its discretion, including warning users, removing content, hiding content, restricting accounts, disqualifying contest entries, or reporting serious violations where required.
Kathakosh is not obligated to monitor all content at all times, but may take action when content is found or reported.
14. Prohibited Activities
Users must not:
- Copy, scrape, steal, or redistribute content without permission
- Reverse engineer, hack, overload, or damage the app
- Use bots, fake accounts, fake ratings, or automated systems
- Upload malware or harmful files
- Misuse subscriptions or payment systems
- Bypass locked content or security rules
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
- Impersonate another person or organization
- Violate applicable laws or Google Play policies
- Use the platform for betting, gambling, lottery, wagering, or chance-based prize schemes
15. App Availability
Kathakosh may change, update, suspend, restrict, or discontinue any feature, content, competition, subscription, or service at any time.
We aim to keep the app stable and available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.
The app may be affected by maintenance, internet issues, Firebase/Google services, device problems, bugs, or events beyond our control.
16. Payments, Refunds, and Cancellation
Payments for subscriptions are handled through Google Play Billing.
Users must manage subscription cancellation, renewal, and refund requests through Google Play unless otherwise stated.
Kathakosh may provide a separate Refund & Cancellation Policy for additional details.
17. Privacy
Use of Kathakosh is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, store, and protect user information.
Please read the Privacy Policy carefully.
18. Disclaimer
Kathakosh provides a platform for reading and writing stories. User-generated stories, comments, opinions, and content are created by users and do not necessarily represent the views of Kathakosh.
Kathakosh does not guarantee the accuracy, quality, legality, originality, or suitability of user-generated content.
Users read, write, publish, and interact at their own discretion.
19. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kathakosh Creations will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the app, inability to use the app, user-generated content, subscription issues, competition participation, prize distribution, or third-party services.
Our liability, if any, will be limited to the amount permitted under applicable law.
20. Account or Content Removal
Kathakosh may remove content, restrict features, suspend accounts, or terminate access if a user violates these Terms, misuses the platform, infringes rights, causes harm, or creates legal/platform risk.

21. India-Only Distribution
Kathakosh is currently intended for distribution in India.
If availability changes in the future, these Terms may be updated to reflect additional regions, legal requirements, or platform obligations.
22. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
Continued use of Kathakosh after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
23. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
Any disputes will be subject to the applicable courts and legal jurisdiction in Maharashtra, India, unless otherwise required by law.
