Just recently I have started volunteering at Helping Hounds Dog Rescue. This as allowed me to do what I love most, which is work with animals. At Helping Hounds we walk, feed, and clean the kennels for the dogs. Then after all of them have been taken care of we get to snuggle up with them, and give them some love.
Doing this has defiantly solidified for me that I want to work with animals someday. Which is why I have decided to major in animal science in college.
My dream is to one day become and equine veterinarian. I would love to work with race horses, and eventually work my way up to being apart of the Kentucky Derby staff. Race horses have always spoken to me because of the way they move around the track. Being a huge track runner myself I think it is so fascinating that a thoroughbred race horse can move almost 3x the speed of Usain Bolt. And I would love to treat one of the fastest racers on the planet!
Being involved in volunteering has certainly helped me decide this, even though it has always been a childhood dream of mine to become a veterinarian. This is because I was able to voluntarily choose to do something to help. No money involved or anything. Just purely because I wanted to help, which is what I want to promote in the vet field when I am older. That no matter who owns the animal or where the animal comes from, every animal deserves medical treatment, and help.
