A Future Made Through Opportunities

"Make Someone Smile Today"

My name is Kate Putman, and I am a senior at Cicero-North-Syracuse high school. and here is a quick snap shot of who I am, and what I do. My dad tells me every morning to "make someone smile today." This has been the center point of my morning for many years, as I find myself already walking out the door with a smile on my face after he has said that. I have always been a happy kid, and my family gave me every opportunity to peruse what truly put a smile on my face. Whether its running laps on a track, miles on a cross country course, volunteering at local dog shelters, going out and doing water sports on the lake, or simply just traveling; the people around me always made sure I had every opportunity to exceed. Leading me to ultimately pick North Carolina State University to pursue my athletic and academic career.  I have also always had a love for animals, the way they comfort us, and play a huge part in our everyday lives made me what to help the ones who didn't really have a big voice in this big world. With this I have decided to major in animal science at NC State next fall. However without all of the eye opening extra curricular activities I have been a part of, I very easily could have been lost, and not had a single clue of what my passions, desires, or wants were for my future.
