Dark Waters is the second Kate Ellis novel. Following the discovery of the body of a vicar in the River Soar, Detective Sergeant Ellis finds herself at the centre of a complex investigation. Her already fraying personal relationships begin to unravel as the case grows into something sinister.

Following the dramatic events of Dark Waters, Kate Ellis is promoted to Detective Inspector and takes on the leadership of the Soar Valley Murder Squad. Confronted with a complex case  in which a security guard was shot during a botched robbery, Kate must navigate the pressures of leadership and find a new equilibirum.
