Kate Ellis appears in a number of composite novellas. These books all describe episodes in Kate's life (ten in each volume), featuring some of her criminal cases, her relationships, her family life and recurring characters. They could be regarded as short story collections, but as the stories are all linked together and maintain a strong narrative arc, they most certainly are not anthologies.
Minor Injuries picks up her life in the immediate aftermath of Love and Anger. In recovery from grief, Kate begins life in the Rape, Domestic Abuse and Violence Against Women Unit.
No Further Action sees Kate with the same unit, but starting afresh with a new partner.
In Brutal Country, Kate is promoted and joins the Soar Valley Murder Squad. As she becomes embroiled in gruelling new cases, her personal life starts to show cracks.
Lectures on Death transports us to the 2020s when Kate becomes involved in the investigation of a series of murders at Byron University.
