- Aim to model the mechanical, chemical and thermal effects to Tire wear using experimental data collected from Dynamic Friction Tester.
- We created an Artificial Neural Network based model for modeling the effects of Tire wear.
- Correlation was done between wear between rubber samples and Tire using the Rolling Resistance Test rig.
- We characterized the mechanical and chemical wear using analysis of worn samples of debris using Scanning Electron Microscopy, SEC, etc to capture the effects of the individual mechanisms (mechanical, chemical and thermal) on tire wear.
- Using this, we were able to characterize the sticky layer formation on the tire due to smearing.
- Next we are trying to couple the effects of tire ageing to tire wear.
