He studied North American Studies, Political Science and International Law in Bonn and Washington D.C. After working as a consultant for McKinsey & Co. in Berlin, he returned to the University of Bonn for his Ph.D. in Political Science. While he was a doctoral associate at the Institute for Political Science and Sociology, he helped build Bonn University’s Center for International Security and Governance. Subsequently, he served as executive director at the Bonn Academy for Research and Teaching of Applied Political Science (BAPP) and as section head for strategic planning at the Ministry of Finance of the State of North-Rhine Westphalia.
