Thousands of Olivia Rodrigo fans flocked to purchase tickets for her newly announced Sour Tour, but many were greeted with an unwelcome “sold out” notice on her website.

Singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo announced her Sour Tour on Dec. 6, 2021, on her Instagram page with the caption “SOUR TOUR IS FINALLY HAPPENING!!!” This is her debut concert tour in support of her debut studio album Sour. She is set to tour across North America and Europe beginning April 2022 for a total of 48 shows.

Many fans were excited to hear the news and signed up as a “Verified Fan” that would allow them to register to win lottery tickets through Ticketmaster. However, many fans had difficulty purchasing tickets because the venues for the tour were smaller than expected.

Rodrigo is one of the biggest stars at the moment. She debuted a year ago with hit singles “drivers license” and “good 4 u”.

Fans were upset that most of the venues for the show only house 5,000 people maximum when Rodrigo has the popularity to fill arenas. Many fans joked on Twitter commenting: “Girl Book Bigger venues that was Brutal. [Sic]” Rodrigo recently responded to the backlash she was getting from fans. In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, she explained why she picked the smaller venues saying: “I don’t think I should skip any steps.”

Rodrigo has been nominated for seven Grammys including Best Album, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Solo Pop Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Music Video.

The singer may consider booking bigger venues in the future, as her Sour Tour sold out in a matter of minutes. Rodrigo hinted that if fans were not able to buy tickets this time around, there may be another chance during another tour in the future.
