In an extremely small town such as Millis, it is crucial to celebrate and support a wide range of groups to promote diversity. This also serves to educate our readers about current events and the varied experiences within our community. Particularly in Millis, the high school's mascot has been a lively debate topic but the school system worked on making a change to ensure all students feel supported by the community and finally removed the previous mascot. As a writer, the issue was a wonderful opportunity to inform the readers of the updates while also supporting a marginalized group that has had such a positive impact on the culture of the town. Below, are two stories that I wrote addressing the issue and how the school is working towards educating all the students.
