Exploring with Scientists

Connect with biologists and other experts in your classroom! Schedule live programs for your classroom (synchronous), watch independent program sections on your own with your class (asynchronous), and/or schedule a meeting to chat with scientists to follow up asynchronous programs in a Q&A format. Programs are designed for elementary school students.

Virtual field trips available for:

3rd Grade: 3-LS3-2 Use evidence to support the explanation that traits can be influenced by the environment.

4th Grade: 4-LS1-1 Construct an argument that plants and animals have internal and external structures that function to support survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction.

5th Grade: 5-ESS3-1 Obtain and combine information about ways individual communities use science ideas to protect the Earth’s resources and environment.

What to expect

  • BEFORE THE PROGRAM

  • Choose one of three program options:

1) asynchronous presentation on your own (no fee)

2) live zoom presentation of our entire exploring with scientist presentation (program fee)

3) live zoom meeting with Kyle in 'Skype a Scientist' format (program fee)

  • Two days before the program you will receive the link to the virtual field trip

  • DURING THE PROGRAM

  • If you are able, please start your meeting 5-10 min early

  • Students and teachers will be muted during the presentation

  • Please submit questions you and your students have in the chat or Q & A feature. We will answer questions both throughout and after the program, depending on relevance and time.

  • AFTER THE PROGRAM

  • Download the section quizzes here to follow up the presentation with students

  • Let us know if you would be interested in future field trips

Talk with a scientist

  1. Recorded video program content (Videos, Quizzes, Teacher resources)

  2. After engaging with the recorded video programs – Book a time to “Meet the scientist” These sessions are all Q&A, so your students can learn about what THEY are curious about.

  3. Live, online programs led by a scientists! Book the Exploring with Scientist program and have your students shape the conversation.

  • $50/class for up to 30 Students

  • $125 for up to 150 students

  • If your school can't cover the registration, we have scholarships available.

  • Please fill out this form to apply for one of our grants

  • Cost: $50 for up to 30 students per date

$125 for multiple classrooms up to 150 students per date
