This new interactive game takes place within World Celebration and on the Disney Play App.
Guests tap into the "Imagination Grid," a hidden digital layer of EPCOT. Hosted by a virtual Figment, guests are tasked with restoring the fragmented memories of World Celebration to prepare for the park's 45th Anniversary.
How to Play:
Once guests walk past Spaceship Earth and enter the World Celebration Gardens, their device vibrates. A push notification from the Play Disney Parks app alerts them that "Temporal Rifts" have been detected in the area. A special 45th Anniversary icon appears on the app's EPCOT map, unlocking the "Legacy Lens" tool.
Families can link their Disney accounts to complete the scavenger hunt together, with different members tasked with finding specific historical fragments.
Using the established functionality of the Play Disney Parks app, guests will interact with the physical park in many ways.
Guests point their phone cameras at physical, modern landmarks, like the new CommuniCore Hall, the Walt statue at Dreamers Point, or the Epcot logo planter. The app uses spatial tracking to anchor a 1-to-1 augmented reality overlay, transforming the modern landscape into a 3D model of what that exact spot looked like in a specific era.
While in the AR view, guests use a "Tuner" dial on their screen to catch audio frequencies from the past. If they tune to the right frequency, they might hear a snippet of the original Tomorrow's Child theme song, opening day dedication speeches, or the energetic Innoventions background music loop.
Hidden within the AR environments are digital, glowing "Memory Sparks." Guests tap these sparks on their screens to "collect" them. Each spark reveals trivia about Imagineering history, original concept art, or details on how the park was engineered.
Eras to Explore:
1982 - EPCOT Center
Location - Base of Spaceship Earth
Reveal -- as you look towards World Celebration, the buildings evolve into CommuniCore buildings with the towering geometric fountain in the middle.
1994 - Innoventions
Location - CommuniCore Plaza
As you turn you see the glowing neon signs and energy that was the 90s Innoventions Plaza.
2005 - Millennium Spaceship Earth
Location - Entrance to the Park
As you turn towards Spaceship Earth, a towering Mickey hand and wand appear with the imaging of Epcot on top, and the Leave a Legacy monuments sprout up from the ground below.
