Guinea pigs are a species of rodent native not to Papua New Guinea but to the northern regions of South America. They’re a smaller version of the capybara, being a close relative (which in hand is known to many as the “guinea big”). As a domesticated pet featured all across the world, Guinea pigs are known for their attractive and adorably soft fur, potato-shaped build, and ear-splitting squeaks. Guinea pigs have always been on top, whether it be in the flavor department when presented on a dinner plate, or in Petsmart stores acting as a top-selling creature.
In order to extract yourself from the entire paragraph of nonsense you just read, all you have to do is understand that guinea pigs are heavily underrepresented in media, with its minimal traction in Hollywood, the only of which involve guinea pigs who turn evil after the cruelty of a science experiment (see Bad Guys 2, DC Superpets).
And this is where our story begins.
The pitch is simple. Universal Creative has two thoughts in its mind:
It wants money
Merchandise = money
What better way to earn money than hopping on an unhopped trend that has gone viral the entire past year? How could you create merchandise that gets people to keep coming back and wanting to have the feeling of “winning” when you collect it all?
The answer in two words:
Blind.
Boxes.
Of course, how can we make the blind boxes specifically Universal, but also warrant a cuteness factor that exudes joy rather than just your average figurine? We take two things and build a formula:
Using the CUTENESS of a guinea pig, and the CREATIVITY of Universal’s own roster of characters, I, Architectural Guinea pig, proudly present:
